The Mission of the AKC Canine Health Foundation is to develop significant resources for basic and applied health programs with emphasis on canine genetics to improve the quality of life for dogs and their owners.
- AKC Companion Animal Recovery
Companion Animal Recovery is dedicated to providing lifetime recovery services for microchipped and tattooed pets. In March 2007, CAR began offering the AKC CAR ID System microchip to increase the number of pets that can be recovered, if lost.
AKC Lost & Found Offer
This is a special offer to AKC registrants. For $15 you will receive a collar tag with your dog's AKC Registration number printed on it in addition to a lifetime enrollment in AKC CAR. In the AKC CAR database, your name, address, and telephone numbers are linked to your dog's unique registration number. If your pet is ever found when lost, AKC CAR experts (available 24/7/365) will use the unique AKC Registration number to reunite you with your loved one.
